IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Academic and Language Proficiency Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific national and international standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Additionally, applicants must submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
