Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty members from the relevant discipline.
