IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.
Referees are expected to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills, according to official notifications.
Academic and Language Proficiency Tests
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific national and international tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
