IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

International applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. This committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
