The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
