IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply for the 2026-27 academic year . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests.

Possible required scores include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance.

Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
