The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students pursuing PhD and postgraduate (PG) courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are managed through the institute’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), DST INSPIRE, Graduate Records Examination (GRE), or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
