IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered. Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
