IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic and Test Score Submissions
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate the applicant’s suitability for the program.
