IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to foreign national students for the 2026-27 academic year . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Application Process and Eligibility

International students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency.

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Required Scores and Admissions

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. This includes Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.

An interview committee of faculty members will assess candidates. The interview focuses on the applicant’s suitability for the chosen discipline.
