Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
The referees will be contacted to assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notification.
Eligibility Criteria and Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Procedure
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
