IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility and Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency.
Candidates are also required to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities, according to the official notification.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or other recognized language tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
