IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT
International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
