IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates are required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The interview panel will evaluate the candidates’ suitability for the program.
