IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application
The application window is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can offer recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude and research potential. This assessment includes their proficiency in their chosen field and their English language skills. The application portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on candidate performance in an interview. IIT Delhi will invite students with strong academic records to interview with a faculty committee. The committee will evaluate candidates from the relevant academic discipline.
