IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication abilities.

Eligibility and Scores

IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proficiency in English language tests is also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Admission Process

Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee.

The academic year for which admissions are open is 2026-27 .
