Admissions Overview
International candidates can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic session. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in . The window closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will comment on proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language skills will also be reviewed.
Academic Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from GRE and GMAT are also considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Evidence of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
