IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Information

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English language proficiency scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required. Applicants must submit a statement of their English proficiency.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
