IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two individuals who can furnish recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English communication skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency
Eligibility for the PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be evaluated.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess their qualifications and suitability for the program.
