IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested foreign nationals can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The institute is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills. Applicants must also list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Application Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. The application process may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates may also need to submit results from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline.
