IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Process and Requirements
Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
