IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master’s degree programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply for academic year 2026-27. Applications are processed through IIT Delhi’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement confirming English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Eligibility for PhD and Master’s programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to present scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
