The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details for International Students
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on candidate performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.

Admissions are for the academic years 2026-27 .
