Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can submit applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details for International Students
The application portal for foreign national candidates will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Required Scores
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
