IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can apply online.

Admission Details

Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The official application portal for foreign national candidates will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. The portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The official notification outlines these requirements.

Required Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
