IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Prospective students can submit applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Research potential and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language skills will also be reviewed.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are CSIR UGC NET and DST INSPIRE. International examinations like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
