IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission Criteria

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee. Standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

English Proficiency Tests

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through standardized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, or similar language assessments.
