IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are now open for foreign national students for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. IST.

International candidates, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.

The referees will evaluate candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Test Score Submissions

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International applicants may also submit scores from recognized global examinations. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in a formal interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.

The interview panel will comprise faculty members from the applicant’s chosen discipline. They will assess candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
