IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .

Interested candidates must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) .

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores come from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC , or the Cambridge English Examination .

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select students based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
