The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is available atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
In addition to English proficiency, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).
- International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
- English Language Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or other recognized tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admission. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.
An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will assess candidates. Admission is based on performance in this interview.
