IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-2027 academic year .
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants need to submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.
The notification states referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered admission requirements.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.
These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
