IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open for admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from examinations such as:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
