Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, can apply online. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in . The window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national eligibility tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated. Applicants may submit scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their academic record and an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview for shortlisted candidates. The interview assesses overall suitability and potential for independent study.
