IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) courses from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility and Scores
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
