IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals who are not Indian citizens are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
The interview committee will evaluate candidates for their suitability for the program.
