IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
The institute’s admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language abilities. Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. For PhD and PG programs, candidates might need scores from national-level Indian entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International students may also submit scores from international examinations. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
The final admission decision is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Applicants also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
