Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The IIT Delhi notification states this process ensures a thorough evaluation of each applicant.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE fellowship.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. An interview committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
