The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
