IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted online until March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible to apply. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered, such as:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, or similar language assessments.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
