IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Admission Details
The admission process is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations.
