The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for admission to the PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They will need to provide a self-declaration of their English skills.
Two referees are required to submit recommendation letters for each applicant. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Application Requirements
Standardized test scores may be required for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

The application portal for foreign national candidates will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
