IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal remains open until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM IST . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notification.

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include India-specific exams like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Additionally, proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
