The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Details
The application portal for foreign nationals will remain open until March 30, 2026 . The deadline is 4 p.m. Interested students can apply through the official website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Candidates are also required to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national eligibility tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English language tests is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi may accept other language tests as well.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
