IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on the deadline date.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notification.
Required Scores and Assessments
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
In addition, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
