IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

English proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess their suitability for the program.
