IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for foreign national students to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International standardized test scores are also accepted. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
