IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is part of the official admission notification.
Admission Requirements
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses overall suitability for advanced study and research.
