The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic and Test Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
