IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM IST.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27 through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Admission Process and Requirements

Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.

International examination scores can also satisfy admission criteria. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel comprising faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. These include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations, among others.
