IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .
International examination scores may also be required. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) .
English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC , or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
